McKeen’s 2023-24 Yearbook - Following a couple of seasons with a lower shooting percentage, Palmieri started to find the mark again last season and finished with 16 goals in 55 games. After a slow start, Palmieri returned from an upper-body injury in mid-January and picked up his production from that point. In his last 34 games, Palmieri produced 24 points (10 G, 14 A) with 83 shots on goal while playing 17:44 per game. He then added five points (2 G, 3 A) in six playoff games. At his peak, Palmieri had a five-year stretch during which he scored at least 24 goals in each season. He is not at that level now, but the 32-year-old winger is still capable of providing secondary scoring if given the chance. While Palmieri did have 33 points in 55 games last season, that also came with an on-ice shooting percentage of 11.9%, which was his highest in more than a decade. Thus, Palmieri could be expected to contribute 35-40 points for the Islanders this season.

McKeen’s 2022-23 Yearbook - A consistent scoring threat earlier in his career, which included five straight seasons with more than 20 goals, the 31-year-old winger has not had that kind of productivity for the Islanders and last season’s 15 goals and 33 points was his lowest in a full season since 2014-2015. Percentages play a part in that decreased production. While he is not generating shots at the same rate as he did during his peak seasons, Palmieri has scored on 9.1% of his shots in 86 games with the Islanders after scoring on 13.2% of his shots in 397 games for the New Jersey Devils. He has not been a major factor on the Islanders power play, which naturally hurts his overall numbers, but it is notable that even with lower scoring totals, Palmieri’s ability to drive play has been relatively strong...

He has not been a major factor on the Islanders power play, which naturally hurts his overall numbers, but it is notable that even with lower scoring totals, Palmieri’s ability to drive play has been relatively strong with the Isles, which makes him a solid top-six winger, but maybe the production could return to a higher level with an increased power play role. With declining production in recent seasons, he might be a lot to ask for 20 goals or 40 points out of Palmieri, but that should still be in his sights if he can get a special teams boost.

McKeen’s 2019-20 Yearbook - Energetic undersized forward .. dynamic key attributes from skating to shooting .. quick hands and a strong one-timer .. decent puckhandler, transitions well .. relies on quickness and tempo .. a 21-point Q1, featuring a season high five-game point streak, fueled a team scoring crown, while missing seven games over Q4 – accompanied by losing linemate, Nico Hischier, to injury .. finished two points shy of a team lead at 5v5, and fell well short of the 23 5v4 points from 2017-18 - despite playing more games .. potted 16 5v5 goals, bettering his individual expected goals metric by 5.39 (11 5v4 goals were three more than expected), firing at a high 12.4% shooting percentage .. with Palmieri on the ice, the Devils fired at a 9.06% efficiency .. recorded a shot in 34 straight games, with 13 multipoint games .. clearly the top sniper in a group of high-end playmakers in Hall, Hischier, Hughes and Gusev – he will be on the receiving end of many opportunities anda team goal scoringcrown is in the works– barring time lost to injury.

Scouting: Energetic undersized forward with dynamic key attributes from skating to shooting .. quick hands and a strong one-timer highlight a vast shooting array .. decent puckhandler, transitions well, excelling in zone entries, relying on quickness and tempo .. strong explosive skater - bites into the ice on startup and accelerates hard with each stride .. changes gears effortlessly .. retains momentum in sharp diagonal cuts at top speed, feeding a knack for slipping inside defenders .. excels as a torpedo – an excellent F1, getting to loose pucks and driving pucks to the net .. solid below the goal line as a playmaker .. impressive strength and balance for his size .. can introduce more patient approach, tends to rush things and could be more composed in scoring areas .. offensive catalyst every shift and less of a complimentary package .. can apply more direct backside pressure, and switches in defensive zone coverage .. can struggle to stay involved at times.

McKeen’s 2018-19 Yearbook - Fell shy of the 50-point milestone in 2017-18 for the first time since 2014-15, but probably would have gotten there had he stayed healthy (62-24-20-44) .. missed six games from Oct. 27-Nov. 7 due to a foot injury and then 12 contests from Nov. 22-Dec. 15 due to another foot injury .. disrupted what was a good start (6-3-4-7) to the campaign .. with his injury problems well behind him, Palmieri was great from Jan. 30 onward (33-16-12-28) .. chipped in during the Devils’ first round series (5-1-2-3) .. 23 of his 44 regular season points came on the power play, which is concerning because he over performed in 5v4 situations based on the expected goals differential, on-ice expected goals differential, and IPP .. even with that caveat, he’s a fair bet to exceed the 25-goal and 50-point marks in 2018-19 provided he stays healthy.

McKeen’s 2017-18 Yearbook - Earned consecutive scoring crowns – tying with Taylor Hall – despite fizzling in the final nine games (9-1-1-2) .. best stretch was 17 goals over 28-games (28-17-9-26) coinciding with permanent linemates Taylor Hall and Travis Zajac (389 mins, 68.2 GF% & 53.3 CF% at 5v5) .. scored four goals in the first 30 games, amid shuffling linemates, missing out on consecutive 30-goal seasons .. outperformed expected goals with escalating pts/60 each quarter once placed with permanent linemates – a key point here .. scoring in ’16-17 was tied closer to linemates, duplicating 5v5 totals from ’15-16, with a point on 69.1% of all on-ice goals, down from 87.9% a year ago .. an elusive 60-point season doesn’t seem as elusive in 2017-18.

15-16 Report/16-17 Outlook: Captured three firsts in his debut season as a Devil; a team scoring crown, playing a full season schedule and reaching 30-goals (13.5% all situation sh%) .. led the NHL by earning a point on 87.9% of all 5v5 on-ice goals .. increased individual shooting percentage by 31% amid a 15% decline in on-ice shooting percentage – he scored a lot in comparison to relative team offence with him on the ice .. longest span without a goal was nine games at the end of January to mid-February .. a brilliant first half (37-16-13-29, 19.7% S%) – featuring a four-game goal streak in an eight goal December (8-4-12) – slowed after the calendar turned (16-3-2-5, 8.33 S%) with one power play point in that span – while the Devils as a team struggled for scoring .. at 5v4 he completed 14% less shots into goals with on-ice shooting percentage increasing by 74% and earning a point on 27% less on-ice goals .. 16 of 19 5v4 points were primary .. a commentary on the Ducks versus Devils power play there was a 22% increase in minutes between an on-ice shot event in ’15-16 as a Devil, than ’14-15 as a Duck – while being played on the first unit .. at 5v5 he led the team in ice time, but second in duration between shots (3:38) and shot events (2:00) .. flanked most common linemate Travis Zajac (54.8 GF% & 44.9 CF% at 5v5) .. hampered by conservativism and Devils unpolished finishing abilities, otherwise could hit 60 points – a revamped first line with him on it and an improved power play could get him there .. signed a five-year, $23.5 million contract in July, the 25-year old is entering his prime .. appearing for the USA in the World Cup and could further jumpstart his season.

14-15 Report/15-16 Outlook: Dealt to the New Jersey Devils at the NHL draft, the Smithtown, New York native missed the first 18 games of the season courtesy of a preseason high ankle sprain .. energetic undersized forward with dynamic attributes .. scored three goals in the first handful of games (5-3-0-3) followed by a 4-game funk .. once broken, he produced 20 points in the following 27 games (27-9-11-20) averaging a meagre 13:39 TOI – 1:47 of power play time .. also included was a 6-game absence with a shoulder injury .. would finish the season with two goals and six points (21-2-4-6) .. contributed four points in the playoffs (1-3-4) after being blanked in Round 1 .. ranks up as a high end 2nd line player with a 0.69 G/60, while 1.47 Pts/60 is dead on the 3rd line benchmark .. strong explosive skater – bites into the ice on startup and generates an acceleration burst in each stride .. retains momentum on sharp diagonal cuts at top speed, feeding a knack for slipping inside defenders .. quick hands and a strong one-timer .. decent puckhandler reliant more on quickness and tempo .. excels as a torpedo – getting to loose pucks and making plays to the net .. displays impressive strength and balance for his size and tenacity under duress .. tends to rush things and could use better composure in scoring areas at times .. learning how to be catalyst every shift, though prone to fading into the scenery at times, struggling to stay involved.

13-14 Report:.. An encouraging first full NHL campaign for important piece of core group of Anaheim forwards under 25 years of age .. an upper body injury and slow start combined to make October and November months to forget (eight points in 26 games) .. rebounded nicely to have a productive second half (35-8-10-18), finishing eighth on the team in scoring (71-14-17-31) .. only played 11:56 per game, continuing his search for consistent linemates and role in the lineup .. skated 1:17 per game on the power play, but did not register a single point all season long .. despite struggles on the man advantage he was a force at even strength, sporting a P/60 of 2.34, fourth highest on the team and fifth in points (31) .. an undersized, strong skating winger who displays a near boundless reserve of energy .. needs to demonstrate more patience with the puck and look to capitalize on opportunities as his game develops .. like most of the Ducks’ young players he’ll be battling for top six minutes in hopes of landing alongside Getzlaf and Perry, not making an impression yet, despite auditions .. should see more consistent minutes in his sophomore campaign and his success in the AHL (134 points in 146 games) suggests some untapped offensive potential .. a quiet playoff (9-3-0-3), passing time in the press box on occasion, supplanted by the play of Etem and Smith-Pelly to some degree .. is an intriguing option in the late rounds of your pool, monitor training camp closely for progression.

12-13 Report: Demonstrated he had accomplished all he needs to in the AHL (33-13-12-25) during the lockout ..  established himself as a NHL regular after a slow and patient apprenticeship  .. scored  ten goals (twenty goals pro-rated) including five game winners (tied for 6th in the league) in a uneven performance .. six goals in February (13-6-1-7) followed by zero in March (12-0-4-4) .. finally settling into  some consistency down the stretch in a productive April (12-3-5-8, +3) .. points/60 have increased in consecutive seasons, a mix of both goals and assists, despite only playing 12 minutes most  nights .. teamed sporadically  with Perry and Getzlaf playing his off-wing and clicked offensively scoring his first, and natural hat trick Feb 27 .. struggled with defensive responsibilities in that role however .. only to be sidelined by an undisclosed upper body injury on a Raffi Torres hit ..  led Ducks with a plus-5 in a spirited postseason featuring some timely scoring  on 27.5% of his shots (7-3-2-5) despite only playing 10:18 a game ..  Ryan’s departure opens up the opportunity again .. won’t be easily won with others vying for the same opportunity .. sniper is ready and increased ice time will lead to continued progression .... intriguing upside here.

2011-12 Report .. Fired 17 goals in his first 18 games with Syracuse to lead the AHL (18-17-9-26) and earn the first of six call-ups to Anaheim .. brought along judiciously at the NHL level, placed in situations to succeed .. paid greater attention to defense last season, getting back quickly and responsibly in his lanes - and being a consistent physical pest in puck pursuits.
