Scouting Report: Italian-born, Swiss-raised .. competitive, good-sized rearguard with impressive mobility .. strong feet power a smooth stride that is long, balanced, and relaxed .. graceful pivots and transitions - albeit his footwork in certain phases could be more efficient .. distributes the puck astutely on the power play and boasts good shooting skills .. stays involved and proactive taking the body, exploiting good upper-body strength .. tends to get overanxious and must continue to refine his positioning and 1-on-1 play, learning to stay patient and square to the puckcarrier .. labours to back up in a straight line with speed - which can compromise gap control .. needs to upgrade his playmaking tempo, plus his overall quickness - especially turning and defending dump-ins .. would benefit from injecting bursts of urgency in key situations .. spikes intensity finishing checks, only to go flat again.
Solid third season paired alongside now departed Toni Lydman .. changing the dynamic for 2013-14 .... played for Lugano in Switzerland during the lockout (30-5-7-12) .. healthy scratch in an end of February game, missed the final six games and the first two playoff games due to a lower body injury - saying he had been playing with the ailment for 'a while' prior to being sidelined .. replaced Sheldon Souray on the blueline in Game 3 of the playoffs .. offensive numbers still slight (41-1-7-8) but still developing and a step back offensively in year three is not unexpected at 22 years old.
