Released a humorous video of himself failing at golf and phoning GM Murray to say he would be back .. a clever way of ending what has become an annual “will he or won’t he” drama every summer .. he’s calling this one his final season and you should take him at his word  ..12 -13 was a tale of two seasons similar to longtime running mate Koivu  .. Jan/Feb ticked along at almost a point a game (18-5-11-16) .. but a woeful Mar/Apr only registering one assist in an agonizing finish (28-7-1-8) while  posting a -12 in that period contributing to a team leading -10 – second worst was -4 .. understandable that it  took a little longer to decide this summer  .. Boudreau’s assurances of not falling in the depth chart and starting on the second line was a deciding factor .. a promise that combined with his always lethal presence on the power play should ensure a productive farewell  .. but take note of second half and fifth ranking in team power play scoring (3-4-7) and fifth in average PP ice time (2:10) – was  not the force he can be last season ..  one of the all time great NHL goal scorers will want to crown a remarkable career in an Olympic year .. could bolt out of the gates .. account for some rest at times throughout the year.

Scouting: Masterful at detecting a goalie’s soft spots and creating space for his finely-honed shooting arsenal .. still possesses that startup explosiveness and power in his stride - providing that separation ability.

11-12 Report: The ‘Finnish Flash’ took over the team scoring lead in late October and remarkably never relinquished it en route to a twelfth 60-point season .. in March, joined Jaromir Jagr and Stan Mikita as the only European-born players to reach 1,400 career points .. always a threat on the...

11-12 Report: The ‘Finnish Flash’ took over the team scoring lead in late October and remarkably never relinquished it en route to a twelfth 60-point season .. in March, joined Jaromir Jagr and Stan Mikita as the only European-born players to reach 1,400 career points .. always a threat on the power play setting up off the halfboards waiting for one-timers and rebounds .. led the Ducks in shootout goals (five on ten attempts) - and in power play production with 28 points .. fired 12 goals on the power play to raise his career total to 248 - just one back of Phil Esposito for third-most in NHL history .. currently sits just six points back of Dale Hawerchuk for 18th spot on the all-time list - and needs just six goals to move past Luc Robitaille into 10th spot in career goals .. gradually wore down over the second half before shifting down a few gears as the club faded from playoff contention.
